As Americans, we ingest biased, highly-subjective reporting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on a regular basis. Our federal government's stance is abundantly clear: Israel receives $3 billion in aid from the United States every year, compared to the just $60 million we used to provide Palestine—as of 2019, President Trump signed a law ending all federal aid to Palestine. I shot "West Bank at Sunset" while visiting the West Bank on a tour led by a Palestinian Christian man, his explanation of the conflict ringing in my ears. Later, on a walking tour of Jerusalem, guided by an Israeli Jewish woman, I heard her side of story. I ended my trip in beautiful Tel Aviv, where the waves ebb and flow, and the sea remains impartial. Muslim or Jewish, the water does not discriminate; it washes away the lines in the sand without bias.
